Spring's Bounty

I took the photo of the sunset while walking a nearby greenway with my family and our dogs. We walked over the hill and this beautiful sunset came into view. My son-in-law, Marc and I took out our cameras and started shooting. The rustic wheelbarrow photo was taken during a trip to Historic Williamsburg. All the rest were taken in my garden.
Enjoy!

Pink Saturday---Flea Market Find

I spent some time, Friday morning, at the Nashville Flea Market. I was going through a box of sewing articles when I noticed something sticking out from under the cloth that covered one of the tables. I lifted the cloth and saw, what looked like, a frame. The proprietress came over and said that the frame had held a mirror, but it had been broken as they carried it into the building, so she had tucked the frame under the table. I asked if I could buy it. She promptly answered yes!

This is what it looked like when I bought it.

I had a plan......I searched through my fabric stash and came up with this piece of pink raw silk. I think the color compliments the gold frame and I like the texture.

Then I made a tissue paper template of the frame opening, because I needed a pattern for cutting the new foam core background, that I planned to cover in my pink silk fabric.
Here is the frame with the new fabric in place.

Now all I have to do is add some of my favorite things...... and I have a sweet, pink memory board.

Whew! Now I'm going to slip on my two-toned, pink readers, and enjoy one of my favorite magazines.

Have a great weekend,

Kay

Beautiful Travel Photos

I saw an add today that read….”the travel season is upon us, make your plans now.” As far as I’m concerned, any season is travel season. Just let me pack my camera and I’m ready to go. The world is full of amazing things to photograph.

Pink Saturday---Pink Picnic In The Park

Good morning and happy Pink Saturday.

I've been busy preparing a lovely lunch, in hopes that you would join me for a picnic in the park.
Feel free to peruse the pink menu, as we search for the perfect spot to spread the pink checked quilt.

I've arranged pink gerbera daisies, in an old ironstone pitcher. The shell pink dinnerware is "Versailles" by Fitz and Floyd. The pink brocade napkins are from Waterford. The bread plates, with the pink Rugosa Rose pattern, were a flea market find. Cut glass plates and berry bowl, and vintage crystal wine glasses, filled with champagne punch, complete the tablescape.

This antique English, horn handled knife with silver fittings, will make short work of slicing the French baguette.

For a sweet finish to our meal, we have chocolate brownies with pink cloud frosting, topped with a fresh strawberry slice.

All is ready......................

slip off your pretty straw hat, with vintage pink millinery bouquet, and ENJOY!

I'd like to thank Beverly at How Sweet The Sound, for hosting Pink Saturday. Visit her http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ for links to more pink posts.
Have a wonderful weekend,

Miley & Molly

I apologize for being among the missing for the last ten days, but I’ve been having the time of my life with my daughter and granddaughter, who are visiting. I managed to get tickets to the Miley Cyrus book signing. Molly was one of 400 girls who got to meet Miley, and have her sign their copy of her new book.

How do you pass the time while waiting in line? You read the book that you brought to be signed

As the line moved closer, and Miley came into view, Molly turned to the girl behind her, and said “I can’t believe it’s really her.” The other girl replied “ I can’t believe it’s really her, either.” Then the two held hands and jumped up and down as they squealed with excitement.

It’s Molly’s turn!

Molly, who loves all creatures, also caught a moth, rescued a turtle, and found an inch worm.

We have been working on a dog collage, but we haven't finished it yet.

Gotta go.....we have more fun stuff to do.

Pink Saturday---Spring Frocks

Every spring we witness the earth's metamorphosis, as the gray, colorless days of winter give way to clear blue skies and colorful blooms.....like these vivid pink dogwood blossoms from my front yard.

I'm eager to shed my dark winter clothing for light spring colors, as well.

Here are two pretty old pink gowns from my collection. The first gown has fabric flowers with rhinestone centers, outlining the waist and strapless bodice.

The second pink gown, has a beautiful watercolored floral motif on the bodice and skirt.....and a lavender sash.

I love pairing pink with red.....like this needlepoint pillow, with the pink cabbage rose, on my red sofa.

And here is a little rabbit pin, from the 50's, that I found at an antique store.

Pink Saturday---Pink Easter Grass

My sister, Debbie, and I were shopping recently. She found a sweet little basket to decorate for Easter…..all it needed was some grass. She chose green grass. I needed grass for my basket, as well. My sister watched as I reached for a bag filled with pastel pink shreds. “Are you buying pink, she asked?” I am, I replied. I think the soft color will compliment the patina of my old basket….pictured here sitting amongst the pink flowers on my needlepoint rug.

This is my Easter basket from my childhood. It survived my teen years by being the place where I stashed my make-up and hair items. I love the shape of this old basket. The colors have faded, but the pink grass adds some interest.

What color grass do you prefer in your basket?

Some pink roses from my garden.
